The 1826 Tithe Commutation Act commuted all tithes in kind to a tithe rent charge adjust according to the price of wheat, barley and oats. This document, dated 10th August 1905, states that the Tithe Commissioners confirmed the Rent Charge for the Township of Rudchester as £150 on 28th September 1841. The declaration states the intent for this charge to "henceforth be absolutely merged and extinguished in the freehold and inheritance of the lands" - effectively saying that as they now owned the land, they did not need to pay themselves the Rent Charge.

The Board of Agriculture and Fisheries then confirmed the "Declaration of Merger" on 21st August 1905, effectively putting an end to the charge.
